Mild IVF Success Rates
Mild IVF has excellent success rates and avoids many of the risks, complications, side effects and costs associated with conventional high simulation IVF.
Mild IVF – like Natural IVF – is carried out within a woman’s natural menstrual cycle. Unlike conventional IVF where you would receive daily medication for an initial 2 weeks to suppress your hormones, Mild Stimulation IVF, takes a milder approach where simulating medication is given for just 5-9 days.
By using gentler stimulation and working with the body’s natural cycle, rather than against it, we aim to collect eggs of much higher quality. The treatment time for Mild IVF is just two weeks and involves lower doses of drugs, making it a more suitable option for many women.
Every woman who has normal/high egg reserve is suitable for this treatment. Other situations include those with no female infertility and only male factor infertility, or those with Polycystic Ovaries (PCO)/Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
Those that want to take a minimal amount of medications will also benefit, as do those that want to avoid the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. Many women choose Mild IVF because they want treatment that is fitted around them and which has reduced impact on their lives.
The first step is for you to come in for an Fertility Consultation & scan where a Consultant will assess you and devise a personalised treatment plan which will give you the best chance of success. You will also be offered counselling support.
2 weeks before the start of your period you will come in to meet with a fertility nurse who will talk you through your treatment plan and go through the consent forms with you.
You will have 2 or 3 monitoring scans usually spaced days apart; each takes 20 minutes. The doctor may perform blood tests at these appointments.
This procedure is performed in the theatre under sedation and takes around 45 minutes.
The embryo tranfer is a quick and easy procedure which does not need sedation and feels similar to a smear test
We will invite you back to the clinic for a pregnancy blood test and give you the test results by the end of the day.
