I still can’t believe it, I feel so blessed it’s difficult to describe!
I found out about CREATE Fertility and their low stimulation approach from a friend in London and it sounded like exactly what I needed. My partner and I had been diagnosed with ‘unexplained fertility’ which meant that the cause of our infertility wasn’t known. We had tried to conceive naturally for 3 years before undergoing 3 rounds of ‘traditional’ IVF at a different clinic where I went on to experience Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS).
It was horrendous – I ballooned up and I constantly felt close to fainting. I was sick, and I could barely get out of bed. For every cycle, I was generating as many as 20 - 21 eggs which were all of poor quality. On one occasion, I went to have a fresh embryo transfer and the doctor had to send me home because I was so ill. As a result, the embryo was frozen and transferred a month later when the OHSS had subsided. After having OHSS, 6 embryo transfers and 1 miscarriage, my hope of becoming a mother seriously dwindled.
When I came to CREATE, I had an Initial Consultation and Scan with the doctor, and I felt that they were genuinely really caring and positive. They gave me hope that low level stimulation really could help me. I was given a plan for a 3 cycle Mild IVF Package that I could complete over 6 months.
As I started treatment, because of what I had experienced, I had to manage my expectations and prepare myself for failure, but I still felt that I needed to remain positive because I think that the mind-body connection is really important when you’re trying to conceive. The doctors and nurses were incredibly supportive throughout each step of my treatment - I felt that they were really on the journey with me because it was a small team and they were consistently positive.
When I had my first embryo transfer after the collections, I had a fresh transfer and by the gift of science and a miracle, this little embryo thrived and became my baby! While I loved being pregnant, I found it incredibly hard to believe I would actually have a baby. I constantly thought something would go wrong, but it didn’t and earlier this year my beautiful, little miracle baby was born.
I think that it’s excellent that CREATE are continuing to expand across the country and that they are coming to Oxford. I think it will make it much easier for women looking for high quality treatment that is much gentler on your body.
I couldn’t recommend CREATE more highly; what they are doing is unbelievable and I will forever be indebted to them for giving me my much longed-for baby. It really is incredible, I feel like I’m living in my dream. I still can’t believe it, I feel so blessed it’s difficult to describe.
