My experience in the Bristol clinic, it was like meeting an old friend.

'' My husband and I had been trying for 10 years altogether. We had unexplained infertility, there was nothing wrong with myself and nothing wrong with him. We just didn’t understand what was going wrong and why it wasn’t happening for us.'' 

I’m 43 now and have endometriosis, I was diagnosed at 21 years old so that was probably a massive contributing factor. I went to my doctor and we were told to go away and keep trying for another year or so. Then we got to the IVF stage with the NHS. There was a setback there as we were told my husband needed to lose weight and then when that was done we went back. I was 40 at that point and they told us they couldn’t help us because of my age. The next step was to then go private. 

We did try a clinic which was very unsuccessful and left me very traumatised by the process. Their method was to just pump me full of medications and when it didn’t work because my body had just shut down from it, it was my body that was at fault. We stepped back for about a year because of how disheartened we were.

I know that I don’t react well to medications therefore I needed to find a clinic who wouldn’t repeat that same process as I had experienced elsewhere. Which led us to CREATE. The emphasis was on working with your own body's natural cycle. We did use medication as my egg reserve was very low. I did a lot of stuff in the background myself including holistic treatments, lifestyle changes and supplements.

 It was the perfect fit for exactly what we needed. After all the research I’d done about myself and my own body and how I didn’t react well to medication, the CREATE ethos was perfect.

My initial scan and consultation were really good. I’m very holistic and very efficient, when I went in it was exactly what I needed. The person I saw was incredibly pragmatic. You are the experts in your field, but we can only work together to get the best results. They were very down to earth emphasising that we are in a partnership together rather than dictating what they think should happen. It empowered me to take charge of my own fertility and wellbeing and also made me trust that CREATE is the expert in the field with minimal medication and maximum results.  The experience was incredible. The news I received from my scan wasn’t good, but it gave me a platform for where I was and where I needed to get to in 6 months and a lot of my lifestyle changes were a positive contributing factor to that.

My experience in the Bristol clinic, it was like meeting an old friend. At every stage you’re really taken care of. I went through three rounds of IVF with create, one of those rounds I ovulated early so it was really 2 and a half rounds. Every single person I came across was incredible.

When I found out I was pregnant it was a very surreal experience because it had been 10 years. Anybody who goes through fertility challenges will get into a mindset of preparing for the worst. It was incredible and a very emotional experience. 

It’s been a dream pregnancy. I'm so lucky and so grateful. This has been my first experience with pregnancy. The second three months I felt I could take on the world. I’ve had no health issues or problems.

I know that everybody has different experiences but I don’t know if there’s anything I could improve. My only thing was that I live in Devon and the clinic is in Bristol so I had to travel quite often. I don’t think there’s anything that I would change about the customer care.

To other women or couples seeking fertility care I’d say do your research in terms of yourself and the fertility clinic. I was very proactive in doing my own blood tests. I took six months to get my own physical body in order to change my body and lifestyle. I did my bit to give myself the optimum opportunity for success. Also my research with the clinic. Go with your intuition and surrender to the process. Have faith that the outcome is going to be positive and wonderful. The clinic is ready for you, to take care of you all the way through . I’m still getting emails now from the clinic just checking in on how everything’s going and that means the world.
