What is Embryoscope™?
The Embryoscope™ is a special incubator with a time-lapse camera, capturing detailed images of embryo development so your embryologist can monitor progress without disturbance.
Who is Embryoscope™ testing suitable for?
Embryoscope™ can be used by any IVF patient, but is especially useful when multiple embryos are available for selection. It is often considered for:
- Patients with repeated implantation failure
- Women of advanced maternal age
- Couples with a history of recurrent miscarriage
The Embryoscope™ is offered in select circumstances and is available at our London St Paul’s, Birmingham, and Manchester clinics. Your consultant will discuss whether it could be helpful for you and explain its potential benefits and limitations.

The Embryoscope™ is an incubator with an integrated time-lapse camera that continuously records embryo development. This allows embryologists to track cell divisions without removing embryos from their controlled environment.
Embryoscope™ monitoring is most useful for patients who generate multiple embryos, or in cases of repeated implantation failure, advanced maternal age, or recurrent miscarriage.
Time-lapse imaging provides detailed insights into embryo development, highlighting critical division patterns that help guide embryo selection. It is optional and supports informed decision-making, but does not guarantee improved outcomes.
Embryos are checked under a microscope at set times while in standard incubators. Morphology and growth observations allow embryologists to identify embryos most likely to implant successfully.
