After almost 6 years of trying, I was finally pregnant
My husband and I never thought we would have any trouble conceiving. We have a 10 year old daughter, so when we started trying for a sibling we didn’t think we would have any issues. After a few years of trying unsuccessfully, we decided to see our GP about it.
We were sent off for the usual tests and everything came back normal so we were advised to go home and keep trying. Eventually, I was referred for a laparoscopy to try to figure out if there is something that the previous tests couldn’t detect. Sadly there was. I was diagnosed with clubbed fallopian tubes which explained why we hadn’t been able to fall pregnant. My fallopian tubes were stuck together and the doctors explained that the only way we would be able to conceive would be through IVF.
We weren’t eligible for NHS funding for our treatment due to us having a child already and so we started looking at private clinics. The first clinic that really stood out to us from the rest was CREATE Fertility. I thought they were reasonably priced but the main reason we decided to go with CREATE was the Mild approach to treatment. I really liked the idea of a gentler treatment journey with less drugs.
The clinics were just reopening after lockdown when we decided to book our initial appointment. We were very nervous to begin with and didn’t know what to expect; especially with the extra health and safety regulations due to COVID.
The initial consultation was done via video call and that’s when we talked through everything. It really helped us understand what to expect from treatment and put us at ease. We were in great hands.
I had a lot of anxiety regarding the scan appointments and I can’t thank the CREATE team enough for being so accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure I was as comfortable as possible; they were all simply brilliant.
Both my husband and I work for the NHS and, whilst we don’t have a bad word to say about the NHS, the level of care we experienced at CREATE was just on a completely different level. We were treated like we were the only patients at the clinic by every member of staff. I honestly couldn’t fault them !
The whole IVF process was really smooth. For me, it was a lot easier than I had anticipated. You hear or read stories about women going through weeks of harsh medication and injections and my experience was completely different. Due to the Mild approach, I only had two weeks of injections and the whole treatment took place within my natural cycle. Looking back, I am so happy that I didn’t go down the conventional IVF route.
When we found out I was pregnant and that treatment had worked, I was in disbelief. We had to take a moment for it to sink in before we allowed ourselves to be excited. After almost 6 years of trying, I was finally pregnant. We were over the moon !
Our beautiful baby is 8 weeks old now and we love our little family. Our eldest daughter loves playing the role of big sister and has been a great help. Life is a little bit more hectic now but we wouldn’t change it for the world. Thank you CREATE! We would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needed help like we did.
