How do we get referred to CREATE Fertility?

Your local NHS fertility service will refer you to CREATE Fertility if you meet the eligibility criteria for NHS-funded IVF. The process to get referred to CREATE is simple, they will fill out a referral form on your behalf and send it to us. We will review your details, confirm your eligibility, and one of our patient co-ordinators will contact you to book in your first appointment.

Once we receive a referral, it usually takes no longer than 1-3 days to in touch with you, unless there are medical circumstances which require further investigation.

Your patient coordinator will find out if you have any individual circumstances that we need to take into account before your first booking, such as organising a translator for you or a preference for an out-of-hours appointment.

  • Welcome

Upon arrival you’ll be welcomed by your personal patient coordinator. They’re with you every step of the way through this process and will help with any questions or worries you have. They’ll start by explaining a bit more about CREATE and what to expect.

Make sure you have an empty bladder before your Medical Review as this helps with the scan (you’ll be given a chance to use the toilet when needed).

  • Medical review

You will then be introduced to your clinician ready to do your Initial Consultation (IC). The clinician will talk through your medical history, carry out an advanced ultrasound scan and give you a personalised plan that is designed to maximise your chance of success.

  • Advanced Ultrasound Scan

Your clinician will perform the Advanced Ultrasound Scan. This scan is internal, meaning an ultrasound wand is inserted intravaginally, and this takes around 10 minutes. It can be performed at any time in your menstrual cycle so you need to don’t worry about that. During and after the scan your clinician will talk you through what they’re doing and what it all means.

    • Your egg reserve - looking at the antral follicle count.
    • The health of your uterus and ovaries - by examining the blood flow to each.
    • The quality of your eggs - blood flow to the ovaries and follicles gives indirect information about the quality of your eggs.
    • Any polyps, fibroids - or other factors that could be affecting implantation or causing miscarriages
  • Results

After the scan is complete your clinician will take your history and circumstances into account and recommend the best solutions for you.

If you are recommended treatment, you will be given a personalised treatment plan and an individualised success rate. You may also be recommended other diagnostic tests.  Throughout the process your clinician will be happy answer any questions you may have.

  • Your Patient coordinator appointment

You will then spend half an hour talking it all over with your personal patient coordinator. With a better understanding of what your best treatment options are they’ll be able to share a more detailed pricing plan for you, discuss the treatment process, when to start and when counselling will be offered.

They know that you may, understandably, have a lot of questions at this point so this is the perfect time to cover them. Remember - your patient coordinator is here to help so you can always call them at any time going forward if you have questions.

Once you are ready, we will book you in for your treatment consultation, so that you are able to start your treatment
