London, June 2025. IVIRMA Global, the world’s leading fertility group, today announces a leadership transition in its Northern European operations, with the departure of Professor Geeta Nargund, Founder and Medical Director of CREATE Fertility and abc ivf, and the appointment of Dr. Cesar Diaz as Chief Medical Officer for the region.
Professor Nargund established CREATE Fertility as the first dedicated Natural and Mild IVF clinic in Europe and brought affordable IVF to the UK for the very first time with abc ivf. Professor Nargund’s departure from CREATE Fertility after more than 20 years as Medical Director will allow her to focus on her commitments to research, improving women’s health and addressing wider health inequalities through her academic, NHS, charitable roles and executive positions including Board Member of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority, and Vice Chair of the British Red Cross.
Dr. Diaz’s appointment marks a new chapter in IVIRMA’s clinical leadership across the region, building on the foundation laid by Professor Nargund. As CMO, he will oversee medical strategy and clinical excellence across IVIRMA’s Northern European brands, including CREATE Fertility, abc ivf, Livio, IVI, Vitanova, and Carl von Linné.
With extensive international experience—including clinical leadership roles in Spain, the UK, and the Nordics—Dr. Diaz joins from the NHS in Scotland and brings deep expertise in patient-centered fertility care. He previously served as Medical Director of IVI London, part of the IVIRMA group.
While Professor Nargund will be stepping away from CREATE Fertility and abc ivf, IVIRMA Global remains committed to the principles she has long championed —such as continuing research on mild and natural IVF, promoting accessible, woman-centred fertility care, and addressing broader societal challenges like health inequalities and declining fertility rates.
Dan Annetts, Chief Executive of IVIRMA in Northern Europe said “I would like to thank Professor Geeta Nargund for her vision and leadership at CREATE Fertility and abc ivf over the years. Whilst we will miss her enormously, we are in great shape to build on her legacy. We are delighted that Dr Cesar Diaz will be taking on the role of CMO for Northern Europe. Under his medical leadership our patient care will go from strength to strength at CREATE Fertility, abc ivf and all our brands and clinics in the region.”
Dr Cesar Diaz said “I am honoured to take on the medical leadership of IVIRMA in Northern Europe. I am pleased to continue the important work for our patients at CREATE Fertility. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that has been established, and to building our clinical teams so we can continue to provide world-class fertility care.”
Professor Antonio Pellicer, Executive Chairman, IVIRMA Global said “I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Geeta over many years and have always appreciated her commitment to patient care and her contribution to the development of Mild IVF. I thank her for her collaboration and wish her the very best as she steps back from day-to-day clinical work. I look forward to working with Dr. Cesar Diaz as he takes on this important leadership role.”
Professor Geeta Nargund said “I am proud of all that CREATE Fertility has achieved for generations of women in reducing the burden and side effects of fertility treatment, focusing on both the safety of women and success of treatment. Through abc ivf we introduced affordable IVF to the UK, providing care for those who otherwise would not have been able to access treatment. Our pioneering work has helped thousands of women and couples to CREATE families. I’m delighted that we have also been able to serve NHS patients across England.
“I want to thank our fantastic team for all their support and wish the company continued future success. I look forward to furthering my work championing better women’s health, improving gender parity in leadership and tackling health inequalities through advocacy, research and service.”
